DJI Phantom Vision Overview
DJI Innovations, the makers of the highly popular Phantom quadcopter, just announced that they are releasing another version with integrated HD video: the DJI Phantom Vision quadcopter. Details are relatively scarce at this point, but it sounds like it will be very similar to the regular Phantom just with the optics included and software. It boasts:
- HD (1080p) video camera with tilt capability and a variable field of view
- 14 megapixel sensor
- camera control via mobile iOS app
- vibration isolation (will be interesting to see how they do this)
- “low latency” video monitoring downlink and first person view (FPV) capability
- wireless synching and social media sharing
I am pretty excited about this quadcopter – I think that the DJI Phantom Vision sounds like an excellent package and a great way for those who are interested in doing aerial videography, but not quite the enthusiast level who would want to have to buy a camera for it and set it all up.
There are no details on pricing as of yet, though DJI claims to announced “incredibly compelling” pricing soon… given that the Phantom is in the $700 range, I’m thinking just under $1,000 – but hopefully it’ll be a bit cheaper!
It is scheduled to be released and available at the end of the second quarter of 2013, which would put it about a couple months away from being available at retail.
